Carbon Emissions

With the realization that global warming is prevalent, we need to address how to either slow down our carbon emissions, the largest contributor to our warming planet, or stop them altogether. This is showing why instead of focusing on one single factor for reduced carbon, we must look at a combination of things.

Carbon Dioxide is the largest contributor towards Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Yes it is true that there are many other gasses that stay in the atmosphere longer, or that have a harsher effect on the atmosphere, but even with this because Carbon Dioxide constitutes an astounding majority of the gasses emmitted.

Electricity, transportation, residential and commercial contribute to the largest portion of carbon emissions produced. These are all products of the built environment that can be reduced based on better design decisions. This means that a design within the city would be a better option considering that the infrastructure is already in place.

So by focusing on the built environment and how to promote a reduced carbon lifestyle we can drastically reduce the amounts of carbon produced
